Studio Policies

1. Scheduling

Lessons are scheduled on a consistent weekly basis.

Please be ready at the scheduled time, with books, a tuned piano or keyboard, and a quiet environment for the lesson.

2. Cancellations & Makeups

Lessons are paid for by the month on the first of each month. Any lesson that is canceled will still be charged. A future makeup lesson can be scheduled for that lesson anytime in the future and that lesson will never expire until the student has had that lesson.

If the teacher must cancel, a make-up will be arranged.

3. Payment

Tuition is due at the first lesson of each month, payable via Zelle (preferred) or cash/check.

Payment reserves your weekly lesson time; refunds are not given for missed lessons, but makeups can be scheduled. For siblings the can be scheduled as a group.

4. Lesson Environment

A tuned acoustic piano or a weighted 88-key digital piano is required.

Please ensure the lesson area is quiet and free from distractions (TV, siblings, pets).

A parent/guardian is encouraged to be present in the home but not in the teaching space unless the student is very young.

5. Practice Expectations

Students are expected to practice regularly (at least 4–5 days per week).

Younger students may need parental support in establishing practice habits.

Progress depends directly on consistent practice.

6. Teacher Travel

Because lessons are taught in the student’s home, please respect the teacher’s time by being prepared promptly.

Delays of more than 5 minutes will shorten the lesson, as travel time must remain on schedule.

7. Illness Policy

If a student is ill (fever, contagious symptoms), the lesson should be canceled.

Virtual lessons may be offered as a substitute when appropriate.

8. Performance Opportunities

Students are encouraged to participate in recitals, festivals, and exams as available.

Participation is not mandatory but strongly recommended and encouraged as part of musical growth.
